We believe in engaging, creative, community-available mental health tools for Autistic youth and families that are guided by Autistic children, themselves. We apply a participant-centered research approach in our yoga and movement summer research program (compensated up to $105 for each eligible participant) that takes into account the everyday experiences and goals of Autistic people and is grounded in the principles of neurodiversity and social advocacy.
This approach prioritizes practical application of research outcomes and participant well-being by including the perspectives of Autistic people and was co-created with 20+ community agencies, clinics, and specialty schools in the SF, Bay and Peninsula Bay area. YAY will foreshadow promising future large-scale research on novel mental health supports for Autistic children and adolescents.
