Charlie Tenney-Becker

Charlie Tenney-Becker (he/him) is a second-year doctoral student in clinical psychology at Palo Alto University. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. His research focuses on emotional development in children and adolescents, with an emphasis on improving emotion recognition and communication in neurodiverse populations. His dissertation research is a novel intervention targeting alexithymia - difficulties identifying and describing emotions - in autistic youth.
Charlie is currently a practicum extern at the Kaiser Permanente Mental Health Training Program, where he provides individual therapy and family therapy across the lifespan. Prior to doctoral training, he worked as a crisis counselor for the Crisis Text Line.
Outside of his clinical and research work, Charlie enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, and training martial arts.
